With Bourbon Renewal live on WRPI FM
"Stormy Monday Blues" program
I love the Adirondack region and live and breathe guitar so I am proud to have established my studio here in Saratoga Springs, NY.
I am a "friend" of Babicz Guitars®. My acoustic "Identity" and electric "Octane" are my workhorse teaching instruments. The Octane is also my main axe for band gigs and recording sessions.
I was honored to be named one of Saratoga's "Top 20 (movers and shakers) over 40" by the Saratogian newspaper in 2005.
(I also make really weird faces when I play!)
I have been teaching full time since 2003, but spent years as a music journalist while gigging and teaching on weekends.
Saratoga Strings was established on January 1, 2009 when I moved on from Saratoga Guitar to my own studio in Saratoga's historic Arcade Building. Now, just one year later I have partnered with several other great instructors and we've moved into our own building at 78 Church Street in Saratoga Springs. This new space allows us ample room to produce workshops, clinics and even showcases!
This two room studio soon became too small!
I am a third generation professional musician. My father, Tex Fletcher was a recording artist and one of radio and Hollywood's earliest singing cowboys among stars such as Gene Autry and Roy Rogers.
My dad's new CD
My maternal grandfather, George Henkel was a "Society Orchestra" leader whose bands were well known in New York City and the New York tri-state area.
Well, whaddaya know!
One day I'll be George Fletcher's grandfather.
Swell!
Me and Petey make with the music.
Roaring Brook Ranch, Lake George, NY
I am a member of two Saratoga Springs based bands: The first is
The Tequila Mockingbirds with my buddy Peter Pashoukos.
The Tequila Mockingbirds were voted the Capital region's "Best Acoustic Duo" in Metroland Magazine's 2007 and 2008 readers' polls, and "Best Jazz Group" in the 2007 Times Union's "Best of the Capital Region" readers' poll.
I am also leader of the blues/rock group, George Fletcher's Bourbon Renewal. Between the two groups, we have released 4 CDs.
I have performed, sat in or recorded with many top musicians including Commander Cody, Curt Smith (from Tears for Fears), the Coasters, John Sebastian, Larry Hoppen from Orleans and many others.
My bands have appeared on bills with such greats as The Wailers, Ray Charles, Robbie Krieger, NRBQ, The Spin Doctors, Popa Chubby, Bill Perry, Bo Diddley, Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Commander Cody's Lost Planet Airmen and many others.

(The band names are merely funny takes on common phrases. George Fletcher lives a totally sober lifestyle).
Mr. Big Shot Studio Boss
My most important credential, however, is that I am a caring and patient instructor with excellent references from parents and students.
Between Michael, James and myself, we can accommodate any student's unique needs.
