A: I have a developed a very intuitive system that starts with strength building and basic chords. This is followed by learning to read Tablature, which is extremely easy to understand sheet music specifically for guitar and bass, basic scales, modes and very simple (and highly usable) guitar “theory.” Learning to be a strong rhythm guitarist is given high priority in the beginning, followed by simple lead guitar lessons associated with scales. Once a student gets past these basics, we learn songs. Mostly my choice in the beginning based on what I feel a student can grasp comfortably, and then we gradually mix in student song choices. The bottom line is this: I can teach you or your child until I’m purple, but unless the lessons are followed with a religious practice schedule at home, progress will be compromised.
